Bitcoin Mining Underground… Literally

Authorities in China have discovered a bitcoin mining operation in what seems to be an underground burial site. Yes, you read that right…

Beijing News, a local news outlet reported at the end of last month on the 31st of May that law-enforcement found illicit mining operations in the northern Chinese city of Daqing. Specifically, the mining operation was located in what seemed to be two burial mounds in the surrounding fields outside of the city.

Authorities were initially investigating the area after a local oil company told the police about unexplained power losses. The office has found an entrance in the vicinity of the mounds and after looking around for a while they discovered that the bitcoin mining hardware was being run on still in electricity from the oil firm.

It seems like many people are getting back on the crypto bandwagon as the price of the leading cryptocurrency started to spike. Earlier this week, we saw the flagship currency pass the $10,000 key resistance level only to quickly sink back below into $9000 territory.

It looks like many people are wanting to get back to mining crypto assets as the industry starts to take off, albeit during times of crisis thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as what is going on throughout the world in the black lives matter movement originating in the United States.
