El Salvador’s Bitcoin wallet is facing technical challenges in wake of embracing the flagship cryptocurrency as legal tender.
El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele says that due to the technical difficulties, the Bitcoin wallet known as Chivo will be taken offline during low-traffic hours for maintenance.
“We will take advantage of the early morning to make adjustments to Chivo wallet, improve the user experience and the problems it gave during the day.
We will disconnect the system from 1am to 6am to make these adjustments. Our teams are ready. We hope tomorrow is much better.”
President Bukele is also calling on Salvadorians to report the challenges they experienced when using the Bitcoin wallet.
“This will help us solve your specific problem and improve everyone’s experience. The site will remain open for future technical assistance.”
The Chivo wallet was developed by California-based startup BitGo, according to Forbes.
President Bukele says that the wallet would be made available for download on Google’s mobile app store gradually.
The Chivo wallet clinched the top position on Apple’s mobile app store in the finance category in just eight hours.
