Pay with bitcoin, ethereum and other cryptocurrencies at Switzerland’s largest webshop

The largest webshop in Switzerland, Digitec Galaxus, announced yesterday that customers can now also pay with cryptocurrency. The webshop accepts the payment option on two of its website; Digitec and Galaus.
Interestingly, the webshop does not accept just one cryptocurrency. Customers can now pay with a total of 10 cryptocurrencies: bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), bitcoin SV (BSV), bitcoin cash (BCH), ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), litecoin (LTC), TRON (TRX), OmiseGO (OMG) and NEO.
The minimum order value to pay with cryptocurrency is CHF 200 (approximately € 176), and the process is very easy. When a customer wants to pay, he or she can, with the same ease with which you can select the credit card option, select cryptocurrency as a payment method. The customer is then redirected to the Coinify website.
Coinify is a platform that directly converts crypto payments into fiat currency, in this case the Swiss franc. The platform determines an exchange rate every 15 minutes and charges 1.5% of the amount to cover the transaction costs. However, the web shops themselves do not charge any transaction costs, making it an attractive payment option.
The company decided to add cryptocurrency as a payment option with the aim of attracting a younger audience and sending the message that the company is progressive and innovative. Co-founder of Digitec, Oliver Herren said:

Cryptocurrencies are fascinating and could become a relevant payment method in e-commerce – we want to support this development. We wanted to do that for a long time, but it took too much effort for a long time,

That a Swiss company decides to implement cryptocurrency is no surprise to many. Switzerland is known for being a crypto- and blockchain-friendly country. For example, the national stock exchange SIX Swiss Exchange listed the world’s first Bitcoin ETP, and the Swiss city of Zug tested a voting system based on blockchain technology last year.
